The Starlight Theater is alive and well, and boy, do they have a fantastic lineup scheduled from now through the next several months, including concerts, Broadway musicals, and other theater productions. In addition to being one of our area’s landmarks, the Starlight Theater’s indoor and outdoor seating options provide lots of options. It is also one of only two major remaining self-producing outdoor theaters in the U.S.

Longview park offers all kinds of daytime activities, but one you may not have explored yet is horseback riding. The Longview Horse Park sits on 500 acres of beautiful rolling hills and pastures just 20 minutes outside downtown KC. 4. Shop the Historic City [Farmers] Market

From May through October, City Farmers Market is open every Saturday and Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The hours change to 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from October through December. In addition to fresh fruits, vegetables, and all kinds of herbs and spices (many that may be new to you), the Farmers Market also has vendors selling collectibles, antiques, and gently used items. There are also food and beverage booths, live music, and other forms of entertainment, depending on the weekend.

5. Picnic with The Scout and enjoy stunning views of KC

Located on an apex inside Penn Park, The Scout Statue stands proud. This representation of a Sioux Scout was sculpted by Cyrus E. Dallin back in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific Exposition. KC residents loved it so much that they raised $15K for its purchase and dedicated it to the city in 1922 in honor of her native tribes.

Whether you choose to picnic near The Scout during the day, at sunset, or after dark, it’s an absolutely stunning way to see KC in all of her glory.
