Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles Review – Analyzing ingredients

100% wheat flour

The noodles of Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles are made from 100% maida or refined wheat flour. Even though maida is made from “gehoo” but still it is processed and does not contain any fiber or nutrition. It is an empty-calorie food item and is generally sticky in nature. So people with constipation and digestive issues should avoid eating too much wheat flour. In fact, certain sources also claim that if you are consuming maida over a long period of time it may lead to lifestyle-related diseases.

Palm oil

The second ingredient used in Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles is edible palm oil. Palm oil is generally regarded as cheap oil and contains high amounts of saturated fats. Industries generally use palm oil in their products because the smoking point of palm oil is very high and also maintains the shelf life of the product. But this palm oil is not at all good for your health.

Tapioca starch

The next ingredient used in Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles is tapioca starch. It is a type of starch powder whose glycemic index is very high (spikes sugar levels almost instantly). As a result, diabetic patients should definitely avoid this product.

Iodized salt

Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles does not mention the amount of salt present in this product. But generally instant noodles like them generally tend to contain a lot of salt to enhance the taste. 1 full pack of Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles can easily fulfill about 80% of your daily salt requirement. We all know how too much sodium in our diet can lead to hypertension and heart-related diseases.

Acidity regulators 451 and 500

Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles mention the presence of acidity regulators 451 and 500 in their noodles to maintain the texture and shelf life of the product.

Acidity regulator 451 is not good for our health and can lead to digestive issues in the near future if you are consuming it on a regular basis.

On the other hand, acidity regulator 500 also known as baking soda, is considered safe for our health.

Thickener 412

Thickener 412 also known as guar gum is a natural plant obtained fiber and is not at all harmful to your health. There are many ingredients used in Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles that are high in glycemic index. The presence of guar gum in these noodles can balance out things.

Antioxidant 319

The last ingredient used in making the noodles is antioxidant 319. Antioxidant 319 is known as tertiary butyl hydroquinone and this ingredient is actually harmful to your health. Tertiary butyl hydroquinone increases the risk of developing cancer if consumed regularly.

Sugar

Sugar is added to the seasoning of Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles. In fact, 100grams of Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles contain about 7.38g of sugar. This product is not at all suitable for diabetic patients.

Other seasonings

Apart from hydrolyzed vegetable protein, dehydrated chicken powder, dehydrated chicken bits, garlic powder, salt, onion powder and yeast extract powder are found in the seasoning.

The chicken found in Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles is completely dehydrated and highly processed. So if you think that you will be getting the same nutritive value and taste of a fresh chicken, you are completely wrong.

Does it contain MSG?

Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles actually contains Ajinomoto or MSG in the name of flavor enhancers 627 and 631. These flavor enhancers are a type of Ajinomoto itself and we all know how bad Ajinomoto is for our health. So this noodle is not at all recommended for pregnant women and very young children.

Acidity regulator 330 and Anticaking agent 551

Acidity regulator 330 is also known as citric acid and is not harmful to our health. Rather Vitamin C or citric acid is good for our health.

Anticaking agent 551 is not harmful to our health and is used in this product to prevent lumps.

Seasoning oil

The oils used in the seasoning oil sachet are palmolein oil, soya bean oil and chili seed oil. As mentioned before, palmolein oil is not at all good for our health. So if you want you can cook the noodles without the oil sachet to keep them a little healthy.

Color 160C used in Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles is safe.

Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles Final Review

So combining all ingredients even though the packaging mentions that everything is added in a permissible amount is the worst product I’ve reviewed so far and will not make it into the list of the best instant noodles in India. The only two good things about Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles are that no harmful colors are added and the presence of guar gum. Except for this, everything is so bad in this product. Even you should not consume Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles occasionally as most of the ingredients are way too harmful to our health. In aspects of nutritional value, the calories are also way too much. Protein is up to the mark because of the presence of chicken bits. The amount of fat is 17g per 100g which is again too high out of which 6gm is saturated fat. Nissin Geki Chicken Noodles can be concluded as an amazing marketed product that is very unhealthy.
